24日にイード（イスラム教上の、断食の後の大きな祭日）休暇から戻り、25日から6日間、
チッタゴン郊外のシタクンドゥ
に滞在した。パートナー及びダッカスタッフを対象とした研修を実施したのだが、なにしろ蒸し暑く、特に後半の3日ほどは停電が頻発して往生した。
On 25th August, I came back to office from Eid holiday, one of the important celebrations for Muslims and had been in Sitakundu, a small town outside of Chittagong for organizing a training for staff of partner organization and Shapla Neer staff. It was unbearably hot and humid and frequent black-out made situation more difficult.
そのシタクンドゥで、雨季特有のどんよりとした空がいつのまにか透明な秋の空に変わっているのに気がついた。9月半ばからはベンガル暦でアシン月が始まる。暑いことには変わりないが、入道雲に変わって高いところに途切れ途切れにある雲を見ていると、確実に季節が移り変わっていることが感じられた。
One evening after the sessions, I found the sky became blue and clear with streak clouds, instead of deep gray clouds. Asin, 6th month of Bengal calender will be started from mid- September, nearly Autum is on the corner.
面白いのは、ここの地域では冒頭の写真のように収穫をしている隣で、次の田植えが始まっていること。豊かな恵み「黄金のベンガル」ならではの風景だ。
Interestingly, in this area, harvesting and plantation of rice is going on at the same time same place. You see why this country is called “Golden Bengal”
