ShaplaNeer is an official charity of the Tokyo Marathon Foundation Charity “RUN with HEART”!
Our application for charity runners is now open to support the activities through the Tokyo Marathon 2024 Charity.
Your donation will be used to support girls in Bangladesh who work as child domestic workers. We provide education programmes, skill training such as sewing and tailoring and more along with advocacy activities that empower girls wtih an aim to end child labour.
About Tokyo Marathon Charity
This is an initiative to expand the circle of charity activities through the Tokyo Marathon. You can support this initiative by making donations. Those who donate more than the amount specified by the charity organization and wish to run as a Charity Runner, may be selected as a Charity Runner and asked to promote the charity activities while participating in the event.

How to apply to be a Charity Runner for Shapla Neer?

A “Charity Runner” is a runner who makes a donation over a certain amount to the target charity organization and participates in the Tokyo Marathon to spread the greatness of charity activities. Facts about child domestic workers in Bangladesh
There are several hundreds of thousands of girls working as domestic workers in Bangladesh. Since these girls work domestically where nobody can see them except their host, they are often physically and sexually abused. Most of these girls can not go to school but work to support their family financially, thus their right to learn and rights to a child are taken away.
Shapla Neer believes that every child and young people deserve a safe living environment with supportive falimies and communnities, free from violence, similar to the general human rights that other adults and children enjoy.

Shapla Neer operates a learning centre for those working girls. The centre provides them with the opportunity to learn Bengali, which is their national language, English, and basic mathematics.
We also provide the essential education, such as how to prevent sexual violence and how to maintain hygiene. Moreover, we implement lessons including sawing and cooking, arts, music and dance, and organise sports and cultural events to let the girls spend their time not as labours but as children.
We implement more professional and technical courses of knitting and clothes dyeing for girls over 14 years old, who are no longer fall under the definition of child labour. These courses enable the girls to look for other jobs, outside domestic worker, bradering otheir scope.
How does Shapla Neer advocate for change in the society?
To abolish child labour, we work not only with the working children, but also directly with the Bangladeshi society as a whole, advocating for change by delivering the message that “Child labour deprives children of their childhood”.
We raise awereness in the society by implementing workshops to parents and hosts of working children, disseminating the information on child labour on a radio program, and exchanging our opinions with the local community and Bangladeshi government.
Your 100,000 JPY Donation
is equivalent to the annual training costs of the learning centre; this may includes basic reading, writing, mathematics, English, along with other skill training.
Your 200,000 JPY Donation
is equivalent to the costs of hosting a sports and cultural event.
Your 500,000 JPY Donation
is equivalent to the costs of renting a house for the learning centre for a year.
