あー愛しのカップめん

あらかじめお断りしておきますが、これは私の話ではありません。

某NGO団体のMさんご夫婦の話で、彼らはバングラデシュの地方
に赴任されています。

ダッカでも日本食っぽいものを食べるための食材調達に苦労する
（昔に比べれば全然揃いますが）ので、地方ではなおさらです。

そうなると、日本から持ってきたあるいは何らかのかたちでいた
だいた日本食はとても貴重です。

Mさんのお家には、どこからかいただいた赤いラベルのうどんの
カップメンがひとつだけあったそうです。

Mさんのお連れ合いが一週間留守をする際に
「他の日本食は食べていいけど、あのうどんだけはわたしが帰る
　まで、絶対食べないでね！」
と念を押して出かけたそうです。

しかし、そのことをすっかり忘れたMさんは、お連れ合いがい
ない間にそのうどんを食べてしまいました。

帰ってきたMさんのお連れ合いは、カップめんがなくなっている
ことに気づき、大喧嘩になったそうです。

150円もしないカップめんで夫婦が大喧嘩。日本では考えられ
ないかもしれませんが、バングラだとそれも納得。

先月、Mさんのお連れ合いがうちに泊まりに来て、その話をす
ごく切実に語ってくれたので、思わずわたしのうちにあった同
じ赤いマークのうどんカップめん（唯一1個）をプレゼントしてし
まいました。

最近になって、あの赤いカップめんを太っ腹にもあげてしまっ
たことを心の中でちょっと惜しんでいます。。。
